About Holly
Hello! My name is Holly.
I was born and lived in Northern England with teachers for parents before moving to Scotland to study Art, Philosophy and Modern Literature. I now live between the UK and Sweden and can often be found by the sea or in a forest with my two dogs.
Alongside tutoring English and other subject, I run a small business producing Public Art and occasionally work as a copy-editor and teaching at University level. My specialist interests are in sustainable development, social justice and creative writing but I also have a background in basic engineering, mathematics and biology.
And most importantly, I am in the same shoes as my students as I return to studying myself in order to learn Swedish.

My approach is to provide consistent support and lessons that are tailored to individual needs . This has previously included long terms support throughout school years; short term input before specific exams or before moving to a new course conducted in English; and at university level with a focus on academic writing to advance skills in structure, grammar and word choice.
This range of levels and adaptive approach is possible due to my own diverse experience in teaching and tutoring. I have a UCCE teaching qualification alongside a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and a post-masters in Critical Architecture. In addition to private tutoring, I have taught in one-off workshops in High Schools and advised on the creation of new courses to be taught at university. However, one-on-one tutoring is something I particularly enjoy as it enables tailored support to different students needs, and this method has led me to support some students from the age of 12 to adulthood when they have since invited me to their university graduation!
Lessons are typically one hour per week but this can be negotiated depending on your needs, finances and availability. I am available for lessons every week via an online platform but always happy to provide homework and be available between lessons.
