About Jack
I graduated with a 1st from Oxford University, Worcester College. Before that I went to Westminster School, and gained four A*s in art history, Latin, Greek, and English literature. I have enormous passion for art and literature together. I very nearly did English instead of art history. My long-term plan is to enter the world of literature and art, to be a writer and artist.
It is an absolute joy for me to talk about and teach art and literature to anyone who is willing to learn.
Education is not just the delivery of information, but training to make you a better reader, a better thinker, a more conscientious person. And I look forward to teaching because I know that I will get something out of it too. Teaching should be enjoyable for student and teacher.

I can teach art history to undergraduate level; English, Latin and Greek to a-level standard.
As any good tutor, I'll begin with listening to you.
I'll discuss with the student their specific aims in the tutoring: are we working towards a specific A-level exam, or are we more interested in Oxbridge application training, or perhaps a wider-cast educative project in various topics chosen, or, its converse, the focus on a very particular topic in detail? I am very flexible and want the student above anything to feel that they are being challenged, achieving their ambitions and enjoying themselves in the process!
I would like to map a very clear tailor-made teaching structure with the student, according to examination and/or personal requirements, combining strong in-lesson teaching, free discussion and independent work with feedback. This would combine the best aspects of the tutorial-style teaching I experienced at Oxford, with a great emphasis on wider development and curiosity. I want lessons to be interactive, challenging and enjoyable.
Essay-writing can be part of this process, to read essays and give you advice and feedback on essays. However, essay writing is only a part of the whole for me. I firmly believe in face-to-face teaching, in discussion as essential to thinking. (And the most rewarding and enjoyable part of learning!)
