About Claire
I am an experienced teacher with a real passion for using teaching and learning techniques to help all students achieve their potential. My Oxford degree means that I have an extremely high level of subject knowledge, and my years as a Teacher, Head of Department, Director of Teaching and Learning, and as Head of Sixth Form have given me an excellent basis for understanding how students learn, and how to tailor their understanding to the demands of exam board specifications.
I also have over 10 years' experience supporting students in applying to Oxford and Cambridge, including providing advice on personal statements, preparing for admissions tests and conducting practice interviews.

I make use of research-led approaches to learning through metacognition to ensure that all students are able to make good progress, structuring lessons that reflect their learning style. I am a huge believer that confidence is essential in learning and so I always strive to relate lessons to students' interests and prior understanding. I have been a lead member of staff in the development of teaching and learning at my school, and have been recognised by inspectors for my engaging lessons.
Lessons can last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the topics being studied, and I am an experienced tutor of students from KS3-KS5.
