About Tim

I’m a passionate and experienced tutor with a deep love for Theology, Philosophy, and Ethics. I’ve spent over two decades working in education, mentoring, and academic research, and I bring warmth, clarity, and intellectual rigour to every lesson. I hold a BA(ons) and MA with Distinction in Theology within a Philosophy and Sociology framework, and I’m currently completing a PhD in Category Hermeneutics, Fear, and Biblical Literature. I'm an adjunct lecturer and tutor at several universities and have extensive experience in teaching, tutoring, and coaching students of all levels — from school-age learners to adult students returning to study. I’m also a journal editor and an essay marker for several universities, so I understand exactly what academic assessors are looking for and can help students develop clear, compelling, and well-structured work. I specialise in how to do critical evaluation within humanities subjects. In addition, I’m a published author in theology, ethics, and philosophy, and regularly speak at conferences and educational events. I understand that every student is different, and I take pride in creating a supportive learning environment that brings the subject to life. Whether you’re preparing for exams, tackling complex texts, or simply curious to explore big ideas, I’m here to help you thrive.

I offer thoughtful, engaging tuition in Theology, Philosophy, and Ethics, tailored to the needs and goals of each student. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-levels, undergraduate study, or simply looking to deepen your understanding, I create a safe and structured environment where complex ideas become accessible and even enjoyable. My approach is discussion-based and exploration-driven, helping students not just learn content but think critically and develop their own voice. I draw on a wide range of sources, from classical philosophy to contemporary ethics, and always relate ideas back to real-life contexts to bring abstract concepts to life. I also support students with essay writing, revision strategies, and exam technique. I have extensive experience supporting learners with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, as well as mental health challenges such as PTSD and BPD. I’m committed to creating inclusive, flexible, and trauma-informed sessions that build trust and confidence at the student’s pace. Lessons are usually 60 minutes, but longer sessions can be arranged depending on need and concentration levels. I have over 20 years’ experience in teaching and mentoring, including at degree level, and am currently completing a PhD in Hermeneutics, Fear, and Biblical Literature. I hold a BA and MA in Theology (with distinction) and have published widely in theology, philosophy, and ethics. These lessons are ideal for students aged 14+ — from GCSE and A-level to university and adult learners looking to explore these subjects in more depth.
