About Lydia
I have studied English at undergraduate and master’s level.
I love going to theatre and seeing new plays and I love reading, and try to do so as widely as possible - I read classics, best sellers, translated texts, YA novels, graphic literary novels and lots of non-fiction too!
Learning English at school is great because, as well as equipping you with skills to pass your exams, it teaches you how to unpick and analyse any form of writing - in a book, in the news or even in an email.

My lessons focus on what needs to be covered, whether that’s A-Level syllabi or specific reading or literacy goals, but I endeavour to let the student take on approach as much as possible. For example, when looking at a text, I will show the student how to articulate their thoughts into structured points that address the questions and meet the mark scheme requirements. I find this approach makes the session much more engaging for the student and helps them to get much more out of their lessons in school too.
I’m happy to tutor at any level and would be happy to provide a planned set of goals after the first session.
