Duration : 1 hour - Price : £30.00 - Place : DorkingPoetry often seems high-brow and inaccessible, but this shouldn't be the case! In this masterclass, I draw on my extensive personal knowledge of poetry, both ancient and modern, and on my literary education from Oxford University to help students get to grip with this most elusive of genres. Together we will read through some poems and dissect them to uncover their themes, symbolism, imagery and deeper meaning. This masterclass promises to be a rich and rewarding experience, opening up the seemingly impenetrable world of poetry to the student.

Course setup
I have four years tutoring experience at a range of levels and across several subjects including Classics, French and English Literature, helping all my students on to achieve better grades or win places at leading UK universities. I myself am an avid reader of poetry; have tutored in poetry before, and have worked as a magazine editor, so am deeply comfortable in the literary world. I hope through this masterclass to make students feel more at ease in the world of poetry, and to make this genre, which can often seem impenetrable, enjoyable and fun for all.
