I'm a second year student at Oxford studying French and Russian. I've given private lessons to primary and secondary school pupils before in both those subjects, as well as in History and English (I achieved A* in all of these subjects at A Level).
My lesson structure will depend on the needs of the pupil. Often I am willing to read essays beforehand and give feedback during the lesson (regarding content, essay style and technique, clarity) but can also focus on the grammar aspect of language teaching too.
I have been giving lessons in essay writing subjects (english, history, even geography) to a boy who is currently 13, for about 3 years now. I have also taught his older sister for about 6 years. Although they haven't had any official exams yet, their parents are very happy with their progress (I can provide a reference if necessary).
Last year, I helped a year 13 student prepare for her history coursework and French literature exam, and a year 12 prepare for her French Oral exam.
I also prepared my younger sister for the Creative writing 11 + exams, and helped her get into a high achieving grammar school.
I also ran a Russian Language club and French debating club at school.
Studied at the Henrietta Barnett School and achieved A* in the following GCSEs: English Language and Literature, French, History, Music, Latin, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art, Russian.
Went on to achieve an A in Maths AS level and A* in the following A levels; French, Russian, History and English.
I have been tutoring for several years now during my holidays when I am not at Oxford. I have also had work experience in several primary schools (including some in France) and have volunteered for teaching days at Oxford (e.g. teaching about Russian music and culture).
