About Amy
Undergraduate student at Oxford University, studying English Literature and Language. I achieved Grade 9s in English at GCSEs, and A*s at A-level, with full marks for my English coursework.
I have 100+ hours of tutoring experience, giving bespoke private lessons to GCSE and A-level students. My previous students report an increase in not only ability but confidence that is reflected in their exam results.
I have experience proof-reading, editing and typesetting everything from formal research papers to CVs. I can give tailored and precise help with personal statements and university applications and I can offer practice interviews and guidance specifically for the Oxbridge interviews and the ELAT.

The lessons I offer are bespoke and arise from discussion with the student about what they find challenging as well as their goals. In contrast to a conventional classroom with multiple pupils, I provide an opportunity for student-led learning with space to ask questions, talk through alternative ways to approach solutions when traditional styles haven’t been working, and enable the student to grow in their confidence.
I prepare a range of resources that are catered for individuals to suit their learning style, all aiming to make studying English more tangible, with patterns and ways of thinking that you can apply to different questions.
I'm willing to go above and beyond: I take time to fully research the specific exam board and guidelines for the individual student, as well as reading the texts on their syllabus so our lessons can focus on what the examiners will want. I often write model answers that we analyse together, and I am happy to mark any writing the student wishes to send to me.
