About Matt

I'm Matt and I live on a boat. I adore sports and the outdoors, but I particularly love maths. I'm a big believer in celebrating mistakes, not being afraid of making them. Yes, that's right, I LOVE mistakes! (It's where you do your best learning.) If you'd like a tutor who will encourage you, has oodles of patience, and will boost your confidence in the subject that I love then please get in contact with me so we can start our learning journey together.

About the lesson

Having taught primary for 6 years it became obvious to me that lack of confidence was a huge barrier for some children in maths. I am one of life's encouragers and will instil confidence, and remove the fear of making mistakes, which can often hold children back from progressing. I've been tutoring for two years now and have worked with children of all abilities, including helping some through the 11+/entrance exam process.

Matt has tutored our daughter to prepare her for her 11 + entrance exam. She has enjoyed being tutored by Matt, he is very calm and patient which has allowed her to feel confident and enjoy each lesson. Matt suggested various resources to help her and us with her home learning which has increased her enjoyment of the subject.

Matt has kept us updated with her monthly progress, detailing her achievements and areas for improvement. He is generous with praise helping her confidence.

We would highly recommend Matt both for his ability to teach and for his ability to cater to each child’s personality and what works best with them to grow their ability and confidence.
