Always have used illustrations and stories to memorize tricky things, and real life examples and demonstrations to explain things better.
Keyword definitions and important numbers/facts I find can most easily be learnt with a story and a drawing. Even something silly and small.
More detailed things such as analyses I would demonstrate a few times, then assist as you attempt it a few times and then see what you can do alone - always giving feedback.
For essays I find it's best to give a structure and then whether you work around that or not is your choice entirely. :)

Jess was a great support for me while i was doing alevel media studies, especially as she was doing her alevels at the same time. She was able to help me understand some complicated aspects and keywords in uniques ways. I have complete trust of jess and how she committed and thorough she can be.
