About Zahava
I run the ESL department in a public charter middle school school in Brooklyn, providing English language learning services to all the multi language learners.
I studied Literature at Columbia University and began tutoring at local public schools during my undergrad. After graduating, I traveled for 4 years teaching English in Colombia and Ecuador and running an online branding and social media marketing business for small businesses. Upon returning to New York, I started my masters in ESL and taught English to adults from Yemen and at public schools throughout NY. I have been running the English language programs at my school for 4 years now.

My teaching method is very hands on and Interactive. It is important to meet students where there are in their learning. I approach all new students with details assessments and an understand of how they learn — whether if they are a visual, auditory, or tactile learner. There will be ongoing assessments to make sure we are consistently meeting the student’s goals.
Communication is key — I am very approachable and clear. Feeling comfortable and confident in the classroom while learning a new language is a priority to ensure there are no psychological/social emotional barriers. We are a team working together to reach the student’s goals.
