About Ben
My name is Ben Bladen. I am an 18 year old musician, and have been playing drums for over 15 years, I got my first drum kit when I was 3. I've been teaching for the last 2 years, alongside studying Music Performance Level 3 in Nottingham, helping students from beginner level to intermediate - with ages ranging from 8 to 16 years old. I have played at many gigs through primary school, secondary school, college and external bands. I've played from orchestras such as the Halle Orchestra, to smaller bands with just 4 musicians at Newark Market and Rough Trade Nottingham, to larger bands at Lincolnshire Showground. Through taking drum lessons as a child, I achieved distinctions in Rockschool Drum Exams up to grade 6, and have worked on grade 8 to learn more for higher skilled students. I decided to start teaching drum lessons to share my passion for music. I love seeing my students grow and enjoy the new skills they are taught in lessons.

I believe it is important for lessons to be enjoyable and rewarding, so I like to tailor to the student's favourite genres, songs and styles to play in. I also think music theory is important. Which is why I teach my students to read the music they are playing. With the theory knowledge, my students will have the ability to improvise and create their own grooves and fills. Lessons are hosted in my sound-proofed studio with high-end equipment, for example professional ear defenders, and a beautiful Mapex drum kit.
