Hi, I’m Mary Shanley. I like to keep my lessons simple and easy to follow, especially when a student is having a hard time understanding a topic.
I usually start by asking what they already know and what they find difficult. From there, I explain the topic step by step and use examples or practice questions to make sure they understand it. I also let the student ask questions and go at a pace that works for them.
I’m patient and I don’t mind explaining something more than once. My goal is to make students feel more comfortable with the subject instead of making them feel pressured or embarrassed when they don’t understand something.
I’m open to teaching elementary, junior high, and senior high school students, depending on the subject and topic.
