About Maddi
Hello! I am a certified TEFL teacher who is passionate about making English approachable and enjoyable. I have two years of formal TEFL experience and over five years of teaching experience in other subjects. I've taught young children all the way up to older adults, from Ukraine to Iran to Taiwan to Mexico. I trained in TEFL at the International TEFL Academy in Chicago, United States, and have since worked on Preply and freelance. I've worked in restaurants all my life and this is where I began to treasure interacting with other cultures and languages.

Learning languages can truly be joyful and fulfilling, when we're in the right mindset. My goal is to make sure you are challenged but still comfortable to make mistakes. I'm versatile and creative. Every lesson is tailored to whatever excites you and inspires you to keep learning. I use videos, movies, podcasts, music, radio, poems, articles, and many other methods for you to interact with English. Most lessons begin with conversation practice, then we tackle an activity (or two) with a focused theme and skill, and finally, we review and finish with more conversation. Usually I give homework, meant to give you fun practice before our next lesson! Most of all, I am patient and empathetic. Making mistakes is how we learn, so our lessons are always a safe place to mess up and learn. I usually work with young adult and adult students (university level, A2-C1) in a 1:1 setting, but I'm happy to work with more beginner students or groups of two or three! I'm truly excited and honored to meet you and help you in your English journey.
