About Abjol
Having worked in various settings including Town Planning, and Digital Innovation, my focus is to contextualise maths into something tangible. I hold 3 degrees. And am working currently towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education (PGCE Maths). I am a holder of a DBS Enhanced Check, and this is available for inspection. Additionally, safeguarding is as much a part of my practice as pedagogy. And I have received structured training on this.

I am a practice and research informed maths teacher. My practice will be guided by government approved, specialist, ongoing, training in teaching secondary maths. Every lesson will involve 45 minutes of dedicated preparation. This will allow me to ensure effective subject knowledge, pre-empt misconceptions, and develop effective scaffolding. I believe that preparation of the lesson is the differentiator between a trained and untrained teacher. My practice is also informed by my industrial experience, to develop wider context. Having worked in various settings including Town Planning, and Digital Innovation, my focus is to contextualise maths into something tangible. Lessons will be up to 1.5 hours. However, they will never exceed more than 25 minutes without an incorporated break for the child. Various scaffolding techniques will be embraced. It is my view that maths can be tackled for all students, and is accessible to all students. For me, maths is a discursive, discovery, process between teacher and student. It is not a rigid transfer of, often complex, information from an expert to a student. I hold 3 degrees. And am working currently towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Education (PGCE Maths). I am a holder of a DBS Enhanced Check, and this is available for inspection.
