- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Singing to anyone aged 7 or above, focusing mainly on contemporary singing styles, such as pop, rock, soul, blues, and country. I also teach musical theatre, which involves working with the vocalist on diction, and vocal techniques to give them a clear vocal sound.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I received an award for gaining the highest grade in the UK on my grade 8 vocal exam, which has enabled me to go on to teach people how to sing, and has also enabled me to work with established artists on their albums and in a live capacity. I also have an HNC in music, and I am working towards my foundation degree in music.
- How much do you charge?
£35 per hour, or £25 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in New Haw, which is about 10 minutes away from Woking/Weybridge/Chertsey area.
- When are you available?
I currently have availability during the day Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays mornings.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from 7 years of age upwards, and can teach any level of vocalist.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Depending on if students wish to do grades, I have experience in teaching the Rockschool Syllabus, gaining a 100% pass rate for the past 8 years. I also teach the Trinity syllabus, and have recently started teaching the Rockschool Performing Arts syllabus.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you want to become a singer, learn the right techniques, learn to understand your own voice, and enjoy it!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught at various musical theatre schools, including StageCoach, and Summerscales performers (formerly Karen Clarke Theatre School), amongst a few others. I am currently a music lecturer at Brooklands College in Weybridge, and I work in various bands in and around the Surrey area.
I also work as a session vocalist, and I have sung for various established acts in the UK, such as Bruce Foxton. I have worked in a covers band with Al Murray (the Pub Landlord), and over the past few years I have had the opportunity to perform at Download festival twice, performed and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and will be fronting Al Murray's house band during his show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.

I trained at Brooklands College in Weybridge, where I gained my grade 8 in vocals in 2005.
