About Sofia
Hi! I’m Sofia, a bilingual tutor from Argentina, currently based in NYC. I teach both Spanish and English to students of all ages and levels—from kids just starting out to adults looking to improve fluency, practice conversation, or use the language in real-life situations.
My teaching style is very conversational and flexible. I like to focus on real communication, confidence, and making language feel natural—not intimidating. I’m especially good at helping students feel comfortable speaking, even if they’re beginners. With kids, I use patience, creativity, and structure to keep them engaged and motivated.
Because I’m bilingual, I understand the challenges of learning a new language from both sides, and I tailor each lesson to your personal goals—whether that’s school support, travel, work, or just improving your confidence.
My lessons are personalized, relaxed, and focused on your needs. I create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of learning, so you can practice without feeling nervous or judged. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you while still making steady progress. The key to consistency is to have fun, I'll make sure we do!

What you can expect from our lessons:
- During our first lesson, I'll be asking you questions about yourself, what you love and the reasons why you want to learn Spanish, so make sure you do some soul searching before we connect!
- At the end of the lesson we'll make a plan together based on our conversation. This plan will be fully based on you, because I believe that:
+ If you set realistic goals, you'll easily surpass them and feel motivated to stay consistent.
+️ If you code language learning based on your own inner world, you'll understand it more easily and, more importantly, you'll enjoy it and make it a part of your life.
+️ We're all busy and you're way more likely to stick to a new habit if you feel excited about it instead of hating it so much you procrastinate until you abandon it.
- Learning shouldn't be generic, so we'll create each lesson as we go based on your needs, progress, and any notes you have for me to improve the experience for you.
- I'll be making sure we have fun and reach and celebrate each little milestone along the way All you have to do is show up with an open brain and a positive attitude!

Perfect! Along with being beautiful, charming and talented Sophia is both an insightful linguistic scholar and patient highly adaptable instructor. She goes to great lengths to shed light on confusion regarding the idiosyncrasies of Spanish, often responding to my queries in the middle of the night on Whatsapp. To have progressed to the point where I’m semi-conversant in basic Spanish has been a life-changer, opening new possibilities for friendship, collaboration and romance. I’ve just returned last night from a solo voyage to Colombia. To wit, if you are in New York, want to learn to speak Spanish, and don’t sign up for at least a free trial lesson with Sophia, then you are an idiot.
