About Rodrigo
I care about students meeting high academic standards in their assignments and written documents. I have more than two years' experience tutoring online and have provided constructive feedback to college and university students with varied skills from different countries (including students learning English as a second language). Furthermore, I also work with adults that go back to university or need additional work with non-academic documents.
As of April 2019, I have reviewed more than 3,400 documents, including:
- dissertation chapters

- essays (academic and reflective)

- academic referencing styles (APA, Harvard, Chicago, Vancouver, etc.)

Additionally, I provide personal supervisory support with planning and writing academic documents, such as research proposals and dissertations/theses. Most times supervisors may not have the time to help you with such issues, which may affect your performance, confidence and the direction of your work.
I have seen many documents lacking the basic format and content, or not being focused about the topic to be discussed. For that reason, I put all my experience learnt through courses, workshops and my personal input since I have written a master's thesis and a doctoral dissertation. Moreover, I have written research proposals, conference papers and published a couple of articles.
I've learnt that from an early age, a positive and encouraging mentor is key to succeed. If you are looking for one, I can be that person to support you.

Our meetings will be informal at one of the libraries of the University of Leeds (or another common area/cafe). First, we'll work together to analyse your assignment and make a plan depending on the type of help you need (time management, proofreading, format in documents, personal coaching).
Organisation and responsibility are key to move forward and achieve your goals, and I'll be there for you to support you and give you guidance and advice.
Since sessions are one-to-one, I'll give you confidence to convey your ideas and I'll lead you to develop critical thinking and analysis skills. We'll have discussions in a friendly way to brainstorm ideas. With practise you'll become the master! You'll learn some tricks to work faster with software as well.
