About Joanna
My career spans thirty years in academia and industrial research working in a multinational corporation where I have led and trained technical teams. That was the initial trigger to turn my interest to bespoke learning where the tutor has the opportunity to provide support on one-to-one or on a small group basis. Since then, I developed online & printed teaching materials in science for different levels collaborating with academic departments and schools. At that stage, I started tutoring school & college students with very successful results as most of my tutees managed to achieve their target grades.

I follow a structured but friendly approach to tutoring. I inspire the tutee to build confidence in the subject by explaining clearly "key scientific " concepts and providing comprehensive notes and handouts with exam-style questions for practice. I usually tutor GCSE & A-level students, helping them to achieve their target grades by enhancing their learning experience and improving their exam technique. I have a Master's & a PhD in Biotechnology and have been involved in one-to-one tuition since 2005. I teach Biology, Maths & Chemistry, I have a PETALs certificate in education, and have done research in developing teaching materials in collaboration with academia. I can tutor online as an hourly session or in person in sessions of up to two hours depending on the students' request.
