I have a First Class BSc (Hons) in Conservation Biology (2015), I then went on to study for my PhD in Ecology, which I am in the process of completing, aiming to submit in December 2017.
I have a strong scientific background with 3 A-levels all grade A or A*, and an A* at A-level History. I have a strong work ethic, but also having come through the system very recently myself, have a good understanding of the UCAS application process, of university entry requirements and interview techniques and procedures. I also lecture and mark University Undergraduates, so have a good idea of the level of independence to be expected at university level. The jump often comes as a shock to students, but I believe I am able to better prepare students to bridge the gap and engage them more effectively in independent study, whilst giving them confidence in their own ability.
I have been tutoring on and off for 7 years. Most recently I tutored a first year Microbiology Undergraduate student with Poster Presenting, Public Speaking, he went on to attain a First (84%). I have also tutored A-level science Chemistry, Biology and Physics, my student for 2016 attained grade A (Chemistry), A (Biology) and B (Physics).
I have spoken at, and presented posters at a number of international conferences and meetings: speaker for Biological Conservation Workshop at RSPO Annual Conference, Bali, Indonesia (2017); Poster at UWE PGR Conference – Winner of Poster Competition, UWE Bristol (2017); Evening Lecture to Tropical Biological Association (TBA) Annual Expedition Group, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia (2017); Evening Lecture to Danum Valley Yayasan Sabah Working Group, Lahad Datu, Malaysia (2017); Poster at UWE PGR Conference, UWE Bristol (2016) (1st place); Poster at International Conference for Stable Isotopes in Ecological Studies, Tokyo, Japan (2016) (Poster Prize); Poster at Southeast Asian Rainforest Research Partnership’s Annual Meeting, Cambridge, UK (2017).
