About Claire
I have recently obtained a doctorate degree in biochemistry from Auburn University. I have 5 years experience as a teaching assistant for general, organic, and biochemistry laboratory classes. I also have experience in tutoring general chemistry and biochemistry at a college level.

One of the issues I've noticed over the years with students that struggle in science classes is that they usually try to just memorize the concepts. Often times, this is not enough to do well on the tests and leads to a lot of frustration. After being a student for the majority of my life, I have learned that one of the best ways to master scientific concepts is to apply them. I encourage students to come with problems (homework or practice questions in the textbook) to work through so that each scientific concept can be applied. In the event that there are no problems provided (this is often the case in biology), we will then talk through scenarios in which these concepts are applicable and take notes on the high points. I offer tutoring services by webcam, but I am also willing to meet at a public location as well.
