About Sumit
Hi, I'm Sumit – I did my PhD in chemistry and I've always liked explaining things almost as much as I like doing the research itself. I've decided to start tutoring properly, focusing on GCSE and A-Level chemistry as well as the Scottish exams (National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher), whichever board you're on.
Chemistry has a reputation for being one of those subjects where things either click or they really don't, and usually it's not because someone "isn't a science person" — it's that a couple of key ideas got missed early on and everything after that felt harder than it should. That's normally the first thing I try to sort out.
Lessons are online, over video call, and I use a shared whiteboard so we can actually draw things out together — mechanisms, graphs, structures — rather than just talking at a screen. Works better than you'd think.
I'm new to this platform so for now I'm keeping my rate low while I get a few students under my belt — happy to have a quick call first, no charge, just to see what you need before we start anything properly.
