About Gareth
I am originally from Northern Ireland, but have lived in Edinburgh for over 20 years. I graduated with a PhD in History from the University of Edinburgh in November 2022. I completed my doctorate whilst working full time in other employment. I am passionate about my subject, I enjoy teaching others and I am pleased to pass on the skills and techniques I have learnt over the years.

I worked for Edinburgh University as a writing tutor. My lessons are primarily for undergrads and master's students, however I will teach PhD candidates. Lessons can last 1-2 hours, depending on students' requirements. I appreciate different people can have very different learning styles. I establish a rapport with the student, simplify the material and always give feedback.
