I'm happy to teach anyone who needs extra, one on one, or small group, assistance with: Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related subjects.
In personal tutoring the teaching methods used reflect the individual needs of the student being taught, and what they're seeking to achieve. For example, if the aim is to improve the grade in a final examination, then a course of teaching is laid out which focuses on ensuring the candidate understands those subjects which are likely to appear in the exam, and has been taught relevant exam techniques, so that they should be able to approach the exam with confidence and achieve their best.
The anxieties, focus and enthusiasm of the individual student are also extremely important, very often poor academic performance is the result of a lack of self confidence, or interest, in a specific subject, rather than a real lack of ability. A personal tutor can often engage a student's interest in a specific subject where a busy teacher with a large class doesn't have the time to spend with each individual, however it is important to find the right tutor for each student and to appoint a tutor early on.
Tutoring is best undertaken in the comfort and security of the student's own home, provided a quiet area with table and chairs is available, and distractions (mobile devices!) have been turned off, or removed. If the student is a young person (under 18), a parent/guardian should be present, at least initially, but they do not need to be actively involved.
