About BUSHRA YAQOOB
I am a PhD-qualified Biomedical Scientist and Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA) with over 20 years of experience teaching in UK higher education. I have extensive experience teaching Biomedical Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have also supervised more than 380 undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. My teaching approach is clear, supportive and student-focused, helping students understand complex scientific concepts, develop critical thinking and gain confidence in their studies.

My Teaching Approach
I believe effective tutoring is about understanding each student's individual needs and then adapting the teaching approach accordingly. With over 20 years of university teaching experience and a PhD in Neurochemistry/Neurophysiology, I have extensive experience explaining complex biological and chemical concepts in a clear, structured and engaging way.
My lessons are student-centred and interactive. I use clear explanations, diagrams, worked examples, questioning and discussion to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorising information. I also use exam-style questions and practice exercises to identify areas of difficulty and develop students' confidence in applying their knowledge.
Each lesson is tailored to the student's level, goals and learning style. Depending on the student's needs, we can focus on building fundamental understanding, preparing for examinations, working through difficult topics, improving exam technique, or reviewing and practising questions.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate.
I have taught and supported students from undergraduate to postgraduate level and have extensive experience in assessment and examination design, including developing and reviewing university examination questions. This allows me to help students not only understand the subject but also recognise what examiners are looking for in a strong answer.
I offer online tutoring in Biology and Chemistry for GCSE, A-level and university students, and I particularly enjoy helping students who find challenging scientific concepts difficult to understand.
