About Juma
I am a PhD student at the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). Beyond my research, I have an enduring passion for studying and tutoring creative writing and English literature. I started tutoring introductory undergraduate English and microbiology in 2018, and continue to seek more opportunities to help out other students.

I offer support with English writing and comprehension based on student requirements. A typical lesson would involve tackling a specific assignment (essay, thesis), proofreading or Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test. I am also happy to share general advice from my writing and research experiences. My classes are primarily intended for undergraduate courses.
