About Gabriel
I am a philosophy PhD student at the University of Southampton with a Master's degree in Philosophy and French literature.
I started academia with preparatory school in Nancy before doing a double undergraduate degree in Philosophy and French literature. I did my Master at UT Austin, in Texas, before studying law for a year in Lyon.
I then chose to go back to philosophy with a PhD in art philosophy in Britain, at Southampton University.
My goal is to become a university professor, and teaching is my passion.

I believe in a patient approach to philosophy. Philosophy is a strange discipline, often misunderstood and often poorly taught.
My lessons start with an overview of the topic studied, looking at different philosophers that touched the aspect at hand, before spending time discussing these opinions in order to develop the student's philosophical thinking. Because knowing philosophers is meaningless without having your own philosophical opinions.
Between each lesson I give students a topic for either a paper or a small dissertation (not as in research dissertation but as Hegelian dissertation), the student will send me the paper by mail, and I will grade it, and give him tips to improve on his next paper.
Philosophy is the study of knowledge itself, but it can never be right, that is why I believe that being wrong is part of the process, and that patient and attentive talks with the student are primordial to his progress.
