For Korean, I base my lessons around the same methods that worked for me when I learned the language. I also try to use whatever cultural materials the student finds interesting and relevant to them.
For other subjects, I try to find out how each student learns and tailor my lessons accordingly.
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh, with first class honours in Philosophy and Psychology. At Edinburgh, these subjects are taught within the sciences - the Psychology course is largely taken up with statistics and experimental design, and my Analytical Philosophy modules were mostly in Philosophy of Science, such as social cognition, perception, embodiment, and artificial intelligence.
I have worked as an English teacher, a research assistant in cognitive neuroscience, and an editor and translator, each for around two years.
I have passed TOPIK level 5 Korean (Higher Advanced), so I'm well placed to help beginners in this subject. I lived, worked, and studied in South Korea for three years, and I have a good knowledge of Korean grammar particles and pronunciation.
I can help with anyone studying in the sciences or the humanities, especially if someone is looking to learn Korean.
