My teaching method is personal, I enjoy getting to know each students strengths as an individual. I base my classes on asking questions and giving students the space to think critically and develop their independent learning skills whilst remaining a strong support system for them and igniting inspiration as much as possible. I am well organised and approach each topic individually until students have a firm grasp on what they have learned. I then like to encourage students to find links between topics in order to help them gain confidence in their own knowledge.
I am currently studying Philosophy at University alongside this I am a member of the universities competitive cheerleading team, because of this my time management and organisational skills are strong. I pride myself on being reliable and dedicated. During my time in secondary school I was selected to be a personal mentor for younger students in the humanities department which I thoroughly enjoyed and wish to continue to inspire younger students in the future.
Paris Performing Arts
January 2017 to June 2017
I volunteered at Paris Performing Arts for 5 months in 2017. During my time volunteering I got the opportunity to lead groups of students aged 4-12 in various different performance related activities. I was able to help the dance teacher choreograph for her younger class and teach the students jazz routines. I often took smaller groups of students who struggled to pick up choreography and guided them through slowly, step by step so that they did not feel overwhelmed by others around them. I also had the responsibility of leading large group warm ups, I came up with fun but focused games to ensure they were warmed up thoroughly. I enjoyed this experience as I have a passion for performing arts and for teaching, I loved being surrounded by younger students who shared my passion. I also learned a lot of patience, independence and perseverance during this role.
December 2017 to June 2018
At Tiny Town, a soft play centre, I was often in charge of hosting children’s birthday parties independently. This experience taught me how to work under pressure to ensure that the party runs smoothly for the children and their parents so they are happy, comfortable and well entertained. My people skills greatly improved whilst working at Tiny Town as I worked and spoke to a variety of different people of all ages, from toddlers to grandparents. My other duties at Tiny Town included working in the cafe where I worked efficiently to make sure all of the customers were served quickly. I worked behind the till taking orders or as a waitress taking orders to tables and clearing up when customers are finished. Another duty I have is checking the soft play area thoroughly and making sure it’s safe.
July 2018 to present
I currently work part time as a customer assistant in a Tesco store in my local area. Due to a large number of staff it is important that as a member of the team I am reliable and can work flexible hours that suit the needs of the store. This job has taught me a number of adaptable people skills - I ensure that each customer is served for their individual needs and that everybody gets the appropriate assistance
I had performing arts training between the ages of 4 and 14. I continued my passion for dance during my years at secondary school and am currently on my university's competitive cheerleading team.
Before I moved out of my hometown to study at university, I volunteered regularly at my old Primary School in order to help teachers stay on top of their work and to ensure the children have a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering and wish to carry on teaching and inspiring younger students to ignite them with a passion for learning.
