About Jack
I was home educated until 16 when I started college education. This has given me a good, broad background in different ways to study and revise. I am an A* A level student (Maths, Further Maths and Physics).
I am also a former Imperial College London Design Engineering student where I also learned basic Python programming skills, but due to a decision to change my degree I am now taking a gap year until I return to study Physics in September. A reference from my former lecturer is available which states that if I had stayed I would have been offered a UTA (Undergraduate Teaching Assistant) position in the module.
During my studies in college and university I would find myself helping friends with their work and taking the time to explain the logic behind the problems they were wrestling to help them better understand.
I am familiar with a number of different online learning platforms and am experienced at creating interactive presentations although I would really hope that the majority of my lessons will be essentially "chalk and talk".

In the first lesson I will work through some past paper questions to gently assess the student and see where they need extra help and which topics need to be covered from scratch.
Lessons will progress from here, returning frequently to past papers and mark schemes to really unpick what examiners are looking for from the start. As an A* student who has been home and college educated, I understand a variety of techniques and practices to get the best out of your studies.
I will always teach the logic behind the problem. I will not be giving out resources to be memorised, as I want my students to understand from first principles why equations or experiments work. This means they won't be thrown by unusual questions or wording as they will fully understand the principles they are working with, whether this is in maths or physics.
