About Piano Learning Bath
My feel-play-read teaching method blends ear-based learning with strong sight-reading from the start, helping students become both expressive musicians and confident readers. Rooted in intuitive teaching, it emphasises joy, curiosity, and personalised progress. Students are guided to feel music, understand it deeply, and play with heart - not just accuracy. Achievements like distinctions happen naturally, through consistent support, musical play, and holistic skill-building.
I feel grateful to be surrounded by the bright smiles and talent of students who inspire me as much as I hope to inspire them. My hope is to be a lasting presence in their hearts - a friend who, through music, taught them to face life's challenges with resilience, express their truest selves, and be honest with who they are. -C Piano- with Cheryl: 1-on-1 piano lessons that bring joy, in Bath. Mentored 60+ students, ranging from 4-60 years old. Tailor-made lessons for beginners. Cheryl’s teaching philo: My feel-play-read piano teaching method combines the natural joy of music with structured learning - balancing ear-based playing and strong sight-reading from the very beginning.
Each student is guided to feel music, understand it, and express it confidently. I tailor each lesson to the individual, helping them grow at their own pace while developing technique, musicality, and love for the instrument.
With over 60 students taught - and many achieving distinction - I believe joyful learning and deep progress can go hand-in-hand. Whether you’re 5 or 50, music is for life, not just exams.
Something about Cheryl: Originally from Hong Kong, now permanently based in Bath. Qualifications: ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance. Distinctions received for Grades 1-8. Class length: 45 minutes per lesson. Grade: 1-diploma. Age of students: any. Upright piano: Brand new C. Bechstein Residence. Full DBS Check. Whether you are looking for a professional training in playing the piano, or high scores in ABRSM examinations, or simply having some fun time learning your choice of songs or music theories, feel free to drop me a line and I will be happy to get in touch. :) ---
