About Maisie
My name is Maisie, I am a music student at the University of Edinburgh, and have been playing the piano for 14 years.
I am passionate about teaching students both the practical and theoretical elements of music.
I have had music lessons for most of my life, so I am very aware of the pressure they can put on a student of any age, and I am determined to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.

I have previous experience teaching beginner piano to students ages 7-16, who made wonderful progress!
Lessons are engaging and exciting, with an emphasis on the needs of the student, rather than following a formulaic teaching pattern.
Lessons will include music theory (such as reading sheet music) to help the student grasp a better understanding of the pieces they are playing.
This will be a low pressure environment - music lessons can be very stressful when the teacher demands rigorous practice from a student. Although this is necessary for higher levels, I believe beginners need a calm atmosphere to want to progress further.
