I am a piano teacher based in SW5 in London. I am classically trained with a BA and MA in Piano Performance. I believe music is magic and is essential to a healthy spirit and mind.

Asja taught my son classical piano when he was 12 years old. She was very intuitive with assessing my son’s ability and interest which enabled her to adapt the lessons accordingly. They were the perfect balance of being challenging, creative and fun and this kept my son engaged and willing to learn. Her approach further encouraged my son to maintain his practice outside of the weekly tuition time.

Asja was instrumental in preparing my son for his Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) exams, where he was required to learn and play 4 classical pieces for each exam. She introduced him to musical styles such as mazurkas, waltzes, minuets, and gavottes, helping him to learn about the various styles of music and the intricacies of the pieces selected so this could be conveyed to his audience.

Her commitment with finessing the pieces helped my son identify and understand the importance of dynamics, appropriate expression, and contrast in the music. This attention gave my son the preparedness and confidence to sit both AMEB Grade 1 and Grade 2 exams within a 12-month period.

It is also worth noting that Asja taught my son remotely for all the pieces for his Grade 2 exam. Due to the pandemic and the covid restrictions in place in Australia during this time, we were only able to continue lessons via zoom video calls.

So, you can only imagine our delight when our son received an A with honours for both exams. This is a testament to Asja’s teaching ability and why it is with great pleasure and without hesitation that I write this letter of recommendation.

I have been having piano lessons with Asja for around three years now. They started before COVID and continued online throughout and after it. Asja is a great teacher. There are many many things I appreciate about her: her constant enthusiasm, how she tailors the lessons to your age (she also taught my son) skills and interests, her ability to pinpoint how you should practice to achieve good progress, her extensive knowledge of music theory and styles, and her warm nature. I fully recommend Asja as a teacher. Our lessons are always great fun!
