I am a professional pianist and keyboard player. I have had a varied career as a performer and teacher although I now play mainly for West End shows. I am currently in the orchestra of Les Miserables at the Queens theatre.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach piano and can also incorporate theory/general musicianship if required.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I graduated from Trinity College of Music with a first class honours degree as well as the LTCL recital diploma. I won prizes for both solo and chamber music performance during my time as a student.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour to teach from home. The rate for teaching elsewhere is negotiable, starting at £40 and dependant on distance/number of hours.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Hither Green, I have a lovely Yamaha U3 piano. I am happy to teach in Blackheath, Greenwich, Lewisham, Catford locally. It is also possible for me to teach elsewhere in London as I make the commute to central London most days.
- When are you available?
I am available to teach mainly during the day 10-5. This obviously suits adult students better, although I can fit in school students from 3.30-5 most days. I am also available on Saturday mornings until 1pm. I am happy to teach during school holiday times.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities right through to diploma.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I will prepare students for Trinity and ABRSM exams and diplomas although I don't believe it is always best to follow this route so am more than happy to follow an individualised programme if desired.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Anything is possible if you want it enough. Learning the piano is not an easy thing to do and does require hard work. However, it is a fun process and the ability to play for yourself, family and friends is such a joy, it never gets boring and makes the hours of practice seem very worthwhile!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have a wide ranging experience as a performer having played solo and collaborative recitals at home and abroad. I have spent a lot of time travelling both on cruise ships and with various theatre shows although I am now based full time in London.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
No, I no longer teach at schools so it is not possible to acquire one.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at Trinity college of Music with Alexander Ardakov, Roger Green and Hilary Coates.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I belong to the Musicians Union
• BMus (Hons)
• Musicians Union
