About Spiros
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching piano on a private one to one basis for around 10 years now. I have also taught in a privately owned music school during the early part of this period. I have taught lots of different people from all ages and walks of life. I have also prepared students for exams all of which have passed with some attaining distinction.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a full clean enhanced CRB certificate.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
I have a teenager who managed to compose his own piece all by himself and did a great job. He is preparing for his grade 4 in March. Have another similarly aged student who decided to try the Trinity exam board for a change as she prefers the repertoire of pieces. She has made good progress with her pieces and has good musicality and will try for Grade 5 in April. Have an older adult learner who wants to pickup from where she left off when she was younger. Learning some aesthetic favourites with her and says she is enjoying the challenge.

I hope to give others the opportunity to learn and derive as much enjoyment from this rewarding instrument as I have from my own 20 or so years of playing. With a patient and relaxed approach I hope to make learning constructive and progressive.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach all aspects of piano, from performance to theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I was classically trained when younger, having completed my Grade 8 (ABRSM) aged 15 although I actually have a Bsc(HONS) degree. I have been learning ever since under various teachers both on a private one to one basis and also as part of a masterclass format, predominately the latter the last few years.
- How much do you charge?
Lessons are £30 for an hour, £25 for 45 mins or £20 for a half hour's lesson. I also do home visits in the local area if you are near enough to me.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Palmers Green N13 where I have use of a mini studio with lovely Bluthner upright and also a Bechstein grand. I cover most surrounding areas such as Winchmore Hill, Southgate and Wood Green where I do home visits at your preference.
- When are you available?
I can be available most times of the week, daytime as well evenings, and am very flexible in this respect.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages (from about 6 years old) and deal mainly with the intermediate grades 3-6, but can also teach later grades if you wish.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I mainly use the ABRSM exam board as this is what I learnt with and am familiar with.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
It doesn't matter what age or level you are at or your technical ability, as long as you enjoy your playing and are making music that is the most important thing. With the motivation and desire you can accomplish the goals you set for yourself in the art of piano.
