About Joana
Hello, I am Joana, an English-Portuguese Interpreter. Words, characters, and sentences have always played a big role in my life. People have always inspired me in one way or another; Humanity is the inspiration source in everything I do.
I believe that language and culture go hand in hand and cannot grow without each other. Language grows into different dialects, depending on the region, which ties it to its people and their roles in the community. The reason why I want to help students is so that they can immerse themselves in the Portuguese-speaking community.

Lessons last one hour. For the first minutes of the class, we explore any questions, doubts or homework the student might have. Secondly, we will read Portuguese texts chosen by the teacher or the student. I always save five to ten minutes for last-minute questions and materials the student might need extra help with. Lastly, I will send out some resources and homework for the student to practice at home.
I was a Student Learning Assisting for one year of my degree and an English as a Second Language Teacher for around a year.
Lessons are for beginners and intermediate students who have a basic understanding of the Portuguese language and want to perfect their reading.
