About Ellen
I have studied Spanish at GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate level. I spent 6 weeks living and studying in Barcelona. As part of my degree, I obtained a minor in Spanish Studies.
I have a first-class degree in Linguistics, which is the scientific study of language. I'm confident in my knowledge of language-learning, language as a whole, and of Spanish itself.
I've got experience in working with children from nursery to high-school age, all of whom have had communication difficulties. I'm calm, patient, and kind. There's no pressure for you to be right in my classes, we're just working together to help you improve at your own pace.

My lessons are for any children up to GCSE who are studying Spanish. I am able to create fun and creative sessions to improve vocabulary acquisition, comprehension, and spoken language practice. I can also incorporate any work used at school. I will work with you to create an aim for the sessions which we can work towards together.
When it comes to language, vocabulary is the one bit that we keep expanding throughout our lives. Even in their own language, adults learn new words all the time. When we're learning another language, we have to work hard to catch up. We'll work on learning new words for different things such as:
- Food and drink
- Objects around the house
- Clothes
- Hobbies
- Holidays
I will also incorporate the appropriate curriculum so that the classes will complement what is covered in school.
We can always understand more than we can say. Therefore, my classes will offer a mix of learning new words, understanding Spanish, using Spanish, and translating between the two.
My favourite part of learning a language is grammar, but it's also the bit that many people find tough. Spanish has many tenses, some of which don't exist in English. I'm confident that I'll be able to explain these to you in a way that you will understand.
