About David
B.Eng in Comp Systems (Warwick Uni) then 16 years of professional experience in engineering companies. My last 10+ years have been managing and mentoring staff at all levels from apprentices and grads up to industry experts.
For 12 years I have read CVs, interviewed candidates and put together talented teams in the field of Software Development, Testing, and Technical Project Management. I have lots of experience working with recruitment agencies and discussing candidates with other hiring managers, so I understand how they respond to different CVs and interview approaches.
I’ve worked and studied all over the world so I’m happy working across time-zones, and if English isn't your first language then that's no problem at all. I’m a huge supporter of D&I, in work and in my family and social context, so I enjoy working with… well, everyone. :-)

Hi!
I ran the Mentoring scheme in the Engineering division of a very large Defence company for 10 years. Mentoring has to be adapted to the mentee, of course, and tailored so works well for you. We have to put aside enough time for it, establish goals etc, and I’m always keen to make it an enjoyable process because that’s how we learn best.
I also enjoy improving my mentoring/tutoring abilities and it’s great when students give me feedback on what works for them, what doesn’t etc.
Some specific areas where I can help are:
• CV design, layout, presentation.
• CV content – what to say, what to save for the interview, what to keep to yourself.
• Covering letter – how to increase the likelihood that the recruiter will read your CV, and how not to put them off.
• Interview preperation and technique – whether you’re relatively inexperienced with interviews and want to become competent, or nervous about interviews, or if you just haven't had an interview for many years and want to know what they look like these days.
• Mock interview, followed up with a feedback session where we can discuss your strengths and any areas for improvement.
