About Jessica
My name is Jess and I'm 35 years old. A BSc Psychology graduate, I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Kingston University in 2013 and have taught EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in two London primary schools over 10 years. (Peckham and Wimbledon - including being Head of Early Years). More recently I moved to Alton (Hampshire) and am now teaching Year 1 at an 'Outstanding' (Ofsted inspection, 2025) primary school in Farnham. I always wanted to be a teacher, ever since my Grandma was a secondary school teacher back in the day. She was my inspiration! Children bring so much joy and laughter into lives and that's why I love to teach. Having lived in London since university, I was craving being back in the countryside and finally made the move with my partner Dan in 2024. We live with our elderly cat (Bonnie) and our new mini dachshund puppy (Paddy). I love going on long walks on the weekends, catching up with friends, yoga and cooking.

I have been a primary school teacher for over 10 years and I absolutely love what I do! There is nothing better than seeing children learn, grow and flourish when in my care. My lessons are individualised for your child and focus on their area(s) of need/targets. I can also help in assessing your child to identify their age-related expected targets. With this information, I tailor my lessons to ensure these targets are being met - scaffolding the learning step by step so your child feels a sense of achievement each time, while also building up their resilience to more challenging concepts. Children learn best when they're having fun so my lessons are engaging, creative and interactive. I can support your child's early reading, specifically phonics, and prepare them for the national Year 1 Phonics Screening Check. Beyond this, I can also support with end of Key Stage 1 assessments (previously called SATS but these are now optional for schools to complete in Year 2). In addition, I can help in all areas of the national curriculum including spelling, handwriting, writing, maths, foundation subjects and general homework duties.
