As a current KS2 teacher, I have been instrumental in creating a successful, welcoming and inclusive environment that both pursues the objectives and implements the policies set out by my current employer. I have a great passion and desire to influence the lifelong learning of the pupils through a broad and balanced curriculum, within a stimulating environment. As a classroom teacher I deliver exciting and inspiring lessons that motivate the pupils and stimulate their love for learning. Recently, I independently organised and coordinated an Outdoor Mathematics day which incorporated all Queen Mary’s School girls. As KS2 Mathematics coordinator I have introduced and implemented Abacus Mathematics successfully within KS2 and have assisted with the growth of a new English scheme. Through independently implementing this new Mathematics strategy, a newfound love for Mathematics within the pupils has evolved and academic attainment has been raised. This is evident in the end of year results and tracking, as a higher percentage of the girls have now reached the ‘age related expectations’.
I strive to set the highest standards in everything that I do. This was demonstrated at my Leeds Metropolitan University graduation where I received a First Class Honours Degree in BA Physical Education and I was recognised for my excellent academic attainment. On a course with one hundred and sixty students I was the sole recipient of the ‘Outstanding Major Independent Study Award’ for my dissertation which focused on ‘Physical Education within Primary Schools’. Additionally, I completed my teacher training at the University of Leeds, on the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Programme, where I was acknowledged as a ‘high achieving male working within primary’. More recently, whilst holding a full time teaching position, I have shown further commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as I have I have completed an MA in Teaching, with my final dissertation focusing on ‘Leadership Approaches within Primary Schools’. Applying current and pertinent literature in conjunction with my primary data I have now gained a wide-ranging perspective of effective leadership methods, within a multitude of ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ establishments. I have now been in teaching for 5 years and I am a current KS2 teacher across a range of subjects.
