Private Tennis Coach & Hitting Partner for over 10+ years in the Southampton Area

We got to know Edwin about six months ago. Various members of our family have had lessons with him since. Apart from being a superior tennis player, Edwin is a superb coach. With more advanced players, his talk about strategies and tactics makes a lot of sense. With less advanced players, he is a patient and effective teacher. Here, I put emphasis on the word "effective". He totally deserves to be called a "super tutor".

I can't recommend Edwin highly enough. He has coached me for the past six years, since I returned to tennis as an adult after a long break. I had played a lot when I was younger but by the time I picked up a racket again my technique had deteriorated and my fitness was not what it had been.

Since then Edwin has helped me rebuild my game to the point where good technique feels much more natural and reliable. That has freed me to focus on the strategic side of tennis, including when to defend or attack, court positioning and constructing points.

What sets Edwin apart is the way he adapts his coaching to the individual. He has built on my strengths rather than trying to turn me into a copy of himself, and he tailors each session to what I need at that particular time rather than following a rigid curriculum.

An hour with Edwin is also genuinely an hour of playing tennis. He is my hitting partner as much as my coach and puts in the same physical effort that I do. There is no standing at the net simply feeding balls and calling out instructions. His sessions are active, varied and enjoyable.

Edwin creates a supportive, non-judgmental environment while still challenging me to improve, which is a difficult balance to achieve. He is an excellent communicator, has a real ability to understand and connect with people, and is simply a thoroughly nice person to spend time with.

Even after six years, I still learn something in every lesson, and I enjoy playing tennis far more now than I did when I returned to the sport.

Ed’s been coaching me in group and individual sessions for a couple of years, now. I always look forward to our sessions - he’s patient, positive and structures the sessions really well to work on different aspects of my game.
