About Duarte
I’m a professional double bassist and RNCM graduate, where I studied Double Bass Performance. Since graduating, I’ve worked as a freelance musician with the BBC Philharmonic, and I was also appointed Double Bass Junior Fellow at the RNCM.
I’ve taught students through RNCM projects, Stockport Youth Orchestra and ARCO, working with different ages and levels.
I enjoy teaching because I like helping students understand the instrument, build confidence and discover what they enjoy about playing. My aim is to combine the experience I’ve gained as a performer with a relaxed, friendly and supportive approach to lessons.

Whether you’re completely new to the double bass or already have some experience, I’ll adapt lessons to you and to what you want to achieve. We can work on technique, sound, musicality, repertoire, auditions or simply becoming more confident on the instrument. I’m a friendly and patient teacher, and I want lessons to be enjoyable while still helping you make real progress.
