About Arian
I’m a professional electric and upright bassist based in Montreal, with a B.Mus. in Jazz Performance from McGill University. My experience includes performing, touring and recording with a wide range of artists and ensembles across jazz, pop, rock, Persian and Middle Eastern music.
I’ve performed in Montreal, Toronto and internationally, in settings ranging from jazz clubs and concert halls to festivals, recording sessions and television performances. Working across different musical styles has taught me that being a strong bassist is about much more than technique. It’s about listening, adaptability, groove and connecting with other musicians.
As a teacher, I bring that real-world experience into my lessons while keeping the environment relaxed, supportive and tailored to each student. Whether you want to play professionally or simply enjoy playing your favorite music, I’d love to help you become a more confident and expressive bassist.

My lessons are personalized around your goals, musical interests, and experience level. Whether you’re picking up the bass for the first time or looking to develop more advanced skills, we’ll build a lesson plan that works for you.
I teach both electric and upright bass, covering technique, groove and timing, improvisation, walking bass, ear training, music theory, and ensemble playing. We can work with styles including Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, Metal, Persian and Middle Eastern music.
I believe the best way to learn is by combining strong fundamentals with actually playing music you enjoy. Rather than following the same method for every student, I adapt my lessons to your interests and goals, whether that’s learning your favourite songs, improving your technique, preparing for an audition or performance, learning to improvise, or becoming a stronger all-around musician.
With a B.Mus. in Jazz Performance from McGill University and professional experience performing, touring and recording, I also bring real-world playing experience into the lessons.
All ages and levels are welcome. My goal is to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where you can improve while developing your own sound and musical identity.
