About Maria
Hey there! Are you looking for an engaging and active way to learn a new language or to bring your already solid language skills to perfection? Are you eager to learn something new about a culture everyday and impatient to embark on a linguistic journey? Well, if the language of your interest is Russian then you are in luck! A native speaker with seven years of teaching experience at the university level, a Master's Degree in Linguistics and Methodology of Teaching Foreign Languages and Cultures, and halfway through PhD in Slavonic studies is looking for highly motivated students to share her knowledge and passion for the Russian language and Culture. I believe that the teaching approach for each and every person who wants to learn has to be handpicked based on how this person feels most comfortable to work. The approach that I often resort to is the Communication approach. Communication approach revolves around building an open and lively conversation with the student spiced with all the necessary elements (vocabulary, grammar, common knowledge) that would permit the independent operation of the Russian language out of the "classroom" in real life situations.
I work with students of all levels from Beginner to Proficiency and prefer to choose the most effective learning strategy based on the needs and wants of the student.
