I believe in musicianship above everything else. That music should be fun and a skill for life. All lessons emphasize the fun of making music and being able to produce songs right from the start, all the time underpinned by solid technique. I encourage a sense of achievement and accomplishment from the first lesson onwards. I enjoy working with all levels and tailor all lessons to the individual, their needs, goals, interests etc. My area of research interest is emotion in music.
I’m a professional musician with an MA in Music Education and psychology who has been teaching for 30 years. I have an ATCL in performance, a PGDip, and am a Fellow of the ISM. Also performed all over the country and in America as a soloist. Winner of the prestigious Geoffrey Gilbert competition, I teach flute as my specialism plus all woodwind, piano and theory to all standards.
