About Jonathan
I have been playing music since I was 9 years old. I am multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and performer. I have written music for theatre, audio dramas, film, and played my own music in professional bands my entire adult life.
My music has been featured in five star sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe for multiple years, and has been played on BBC Radio by the likes Giles Peterson and Jamie Cullum. I was recently honored to play and record with the late, great Linda Lewis.
When I was very young, my formal musical education was challenging, so much so that I nearly gave up on it all together. I was fortunate to have a mentor in my teenage years that reinvigorated me, and inspired me to learn and grow as a musician in the way that better suited me. Now, I seek to give back, and to help others find joy in music, the way I was helped.

Everyone is different! We all learn in different ways, and my goal is to cater to your specific way of learning. As such, our first lesson together will be free, so that we can have a chat about what your goals are, and what kind of music you're interested in.
Whatever your goals - be they reaching a certain Grade, or learning a certain song - we will work towards them by building your musicianship. This means developing your ear, learning the basics of theory, and understanding how the guitar relates to other instruments, AS WELL as developing your skill and technique. And unlike in school, all these things will be taught in a fun and engaging way!
No matter what, the "why" of music will be part of your guitar lessons, along with the "how" and "what". This is the foundation of my holistic approach to music education.
