Professional musician here to give you bespoke violin tuition at a reasonable rate

I first met Hilary when she was an English teacher with the same program as me in Ukraine. I was her head teacher and, as such, tasked with observing Hilary’s teaching. Hilary was always well prepared, 100% focused on the lesson the entire time, and used effective teaching techniques. She is very kind but will give honest critiques to help you improve. I quickly learned that Hilary was trustworthy, professional, self-motivated, selfless, responsible, and a great teacher. I can recommend Hilary without reservation. I felt at ease with Hilary and that we made the right decision having her be our teacher. You will feel the same.

Hilary has both passion for the art and compassion for the student. I work with Hilary as a professional in the arts, and she is always punctual and very prepared. Unlike some other teachers, she has a wealth of experience professionally which she carries into the classroom. Truly one of the best out there! I would highly recommend her to anyone of all levels and all ages.

Hilary plays as our principal oboist in the Newport Orchestra. Since joining us in the summer of 2018 Hilary's musical talent has shone through. She is a real asset to our group so I'm happy to recommend her as a tutor for other musicians to benefit from her skills and knowledge.

Hilary has loads of musical experience. She's been performing and perfecting her craft for as long as I've known her.

I had the opportunity to perform in an orchestra with Hilary when we were both in college. She is an excellent, hard-working musician. She is passionate about music. In addition to her knowledge and expertise in the field of music, she is simply a remarkable human being. Anyone who spends time around her can feel her sincerity and how deeply she cares about others. It was a joy to work with Hilary in any music ensemble. I looked forward to it because I knew she would be dependable, and she would contribute wonderful sound to the group. She would also make the experience fun with her sense of humor and the joy she has from playing music. I would definitely recommend her!

Hilary Stavros Ives performed an oboe concerto with the Orchestra of Southern Utah and was a joy to work with. She plays musically, with clarity and fine tone. I worked with her for many years coaching her string quartet and am impressed with her dedication, responsibility, and kindness. As a performer with the Utah Shakespeare Festival she was a delightful and versatile musician. She will be a fine teacher and I highly recommend her.

Hilary would be an amazing tutor. Not only is she very talented as a musician, but she is also extremely knowledgeable in all things music. As a teacher, she is patient and explains things in a way that everyone can understand and learn from. I highly recommend her!!

Hilary is reliable and a great tutor. She has a wonderful personality and patience, and she genuinely cares about her students. She’s classically trained and knows the techniques of her instruments, so she will teach you how to play the instruments correctly.

I've known Hilary for nearly five years and know her to be trustworthy, diligent, and kind. She interacts well with others and is passionate about what she does.

I contacted Hilary after seeing her advert for teaching the oboe from Beginner to Advanced level and, at the age of 69, took up the oboe last year.

Her easy manner and encouraging method of teaching have enabled me to overcome various challenges with the oboe through the use of a variety of structured techniques. Consequently, I have progressed from being an absolute beginner to Grade 3+ in little over a year.

I have also briefly witnessed her teaching much younger students than myself learning to play both the violin and the cello, and she has impressed me with the ease in which she communicates her skills and techniques to people of all ages.
