About Sam
I currently hold a first class degree in Music from the University of Manchester, specialising in performance and composition. I play all four saxophones and the bassoon to a professional standard, and spend a lot of my time performing in function bands and playing in the pit for amateur and semi-professional musical theatre productions where I double on all the saxophones, bassoon, clarinet and bass clarinet. I also have a Masters in Audio Production at the University of Salford with distinction. My performing experience includes a range of orchestral bassoon and saxophone playing, working with ensembles such as the Camerata of London, as well as recently performing the Glazunov Saxophone Concerto with the Sutton Symphony Orchestra.
I have worked as a music tutor for Rochdale Music Service, and as a wind tutor and jazz band director for Musicale Ltd. Prior to coming to Manchester, I taught privately with students of a wide range of ages. I will teach all standards, and am happy to teach any style you wish to learn, from classical to jazz, as well as working towards ABRSM or other grade exams.

While I will help students work towards exams if they wish, I believe it is very important that learning a musical instrument should be fun. Taking exams can be daunting and stressful, so for me it is crucial that my lessons aren't simply directing students towards getting high marks, but also helping them to discover their musical identity and ability to play the music they want and enjoy performing.
