About René
- What kind of experience do you have? I have been teaching singing for 9 years now, both in private 1-1 sessions and in groups. Each summer I teach at The Music Makers summer music courses in Nottingham aimed at children aged 5-15. Through my operatic work I often teach singing workshops and more focused opera workshops. In these we explore the characters, themes and music of a specific opera, update it and see how the opera is still relevant to modern life, and then teaching some extracts of the work to the group. I have extensive experience in choral singing having been a Canterbury Cathedral chorister, a member of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, a scholar at St Barnabas' Cathedral Nottingham and having conducted and directed Viva Voce Chamber Choir. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? I have a DBS Certificate with a Date of Issue: 14 June 2018. - Where and with whom did you train? Whilst in Nottingham I trained with Richard Howarth and at the Royal Academy of Music and now privately with international tenor, Ryland Davies and in demand vocal coach, Audrey Hyland. Whilst training for my LRAM singing teacher status I studied with Glenville Hargreaves and had vocal health lectures from specialists in a Harley Street clinic.
