About Yulia
Hi! I’m Yulia Mats, a passionate piano teacher with over 15 years of experience guiding students of all levels. I graduated with distinction from a specialised music boarding school, earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Piano Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, studying in the class of a concert pianist.
I am a winner of numerous national and international competitions and have participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned pianists. I have performed extensively as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, and with orchestras.
I approach every student with the same dedication and seriousness, whether they are just starting out or preparing for advanced performance. My lessons are tailored to each individual’s goals and abilities, with a focus on musical growth, technique, and expression. I aim to support each student in developing both skill and a genuine understanding and love of music.

My Teaching Approach and Methodology: I believe in a personalised and holistic approach to teaching piano. Every student is unique, and I tailor my lessons to fit the individual needs and goals of each student. Here’s how I approach tutoring: - Techniques and Teaching Methodology: My teaching methodology combines traditional techniques with modern approaches. I emphasise a solid foundation in classical piano techniques, including sight-reading and ear training. I also incorporate active listening and improvisation to enhance musical understanding and creativity. Whether using sheet music or playing by ear, I adapt my methods to suit each student's learning style. - Typical Lesson Length: Lessons are typically 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes long, depending on the student's age, level, and preference. I am flexible and can adjust the duration based on individual needs and goals. - Qualifications and Experience: With 15 years of musical experience, I graduated with a gold medal from a specialised music boarding school, completed my Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Piano Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I have performed in hundreds of concerts and competitions, both solo and in ensembles, and have extensive experience in chamber music and accompanying, including performances with orchestras. - Target Audience: My lessons are designed for students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced pianists. Whether you are a young child starting your musical journey, a teenager preparing for exams, or an adult rekindling your passion for piano, I am here to guide you. _______________ First Lesson I offer the first lesson for free to get to know the student, discuss their goals, and outline a tailored plan for their learning journey. This initial meeting helps me understand the student's aspirations and allows us to establish a clear path forward. Technology and Tools For online lessons, I use Zoom due to its high-quality transmission. I also use a microphone and an additional camera for top-down views to enhance the student's understanding of my demonstrations. By creating a supportive and motivating environment, I aim to inspire my students to explore their musical potential and develop a lifelong love for music.
